Hello I am Nikki….and I am a Snapchat addict.
Snapchat has literally taken the travel blogging world by storm this past year. Gone are the days where this app was solely used by high school students to share sexy photos and videos that would disappear off the face of the earth within seconds.
When the app introduced the ‘My Story’ feature in 2013, this was a serious game-changer as it meant users could start compiling snaps in a chronological storyline that their followers could view for up to 24 hours.
Now with over 200 million active users, it seems like almost everyone and their dog is using this platform as a way to visually document their day-to-day lives and share it with their friends in a fun and interactive way.
And for travel bloggers in particular, it has become a great platform for engaging with followers on a more personal level and give updates in real-time on what they are getting up to behind-the-scenes when travelling. It’s almost like you have your own personalised live Travel TV Channel taking you around the world with your favourite bloggers – and I have to admit, I am totally hooked!
There are literally hundreds of travel bloggers worth tuning into (and if I had more hours in the day I probably would!) but these are the snappers I regularly check out on a daily basis and you should do too!
So in no particular order, here are my top 8 travel bloggers to follow on Snapchat!
Vicky is one of my fave female travel bloggers on Snapchat….and one inspiring lady! Her witty and comical accounts of her adventures make me seriously LOL! She’s on a trip of epic proportions around the US at the moment and every snap fills me with serious wanderlust and envy (except for maybe the fitness camp in Tennessee….that I am happy to watch from afar!)
Claire is the kind of snapper you’d love to actually meet on your travels! Her sweet personality shines through in every snap and I am a huge fan of her typically British sense of humour! I think we would get along! She’s currently spending three months backpacking across Asia, and I’ve seen her jump off cliffs, eat gross bugs, plus much more! But Claire also doesn’t shy away from sharing the real (and sometimes downright hard) side of travelling and that’s what makes her account refreshing to follow.
Taylor has recently returned home after working and living abroad in Thailand, and I love tuning in for her daily musings on life in Canada while she plans her next adventure. As a fellow travel blogger who is also currently back at my home-base, I can totally relate to her itchy feet syndrome at the moment. But watch this space…as Taylor will be making her way back to Asia very soon!
Amy is probably one of the most adorable snappers you’ll ever watch (and occasionally her new hubby Nathan makes an appearance too)! I loved following along with their journey in the run-up to their big day and their honeymoon in Canada looked simply breathtaking (you have to check out their Instagram too for all their gorgeous photos!) Now they’re snapping away about life in Asheville, North Carolina, before they embark on their next adventure across Europe!
I have been following Stefan and Sebastien of the Nomadic Boys on their blog and other social media channels for a while now so was really happy to see that they had jumped on the Snapchat bandwagon. These guys are HILARIOUS. If food, adventure and general sillyness is your thing, then you have to follow these guys’ funny antics as they gobble their way around the world.
One of Ireland’s top travel bloggers, Janet is a full-time traveller currently making her way around Asia (sometimes you might even catch Curious Claire with her too!). This crazy Irish lady certainly doesn’t know how to sit still and I can barely keep up with her snaps – it seems like she always has something exciting going on. From the gorgeous beaches of Koh Lanta to sampling the street food in Hanoi, she has already packed in quite a lot in the last few months, and I can’t wait to see what’s next!
Eva was probably one of the first Snapchat accounts I started to follow and I am still just as hooked today (p.s. totally blaming you for the start of my addiction!). Eva has managed to keep me totally engaged from day one because her snaps are always really informative and interesting. You can currently watch her road-tripping across the US.
Katie of The Hostel Girl is the QUEEN of Snapchat. Her seamless snap stories are really fun and entertaining to watch and I am always eager to tune if for her daily travel tips. While she is not travelling much outside of the UK at the moment, Katie is always on the go and regularly shares really interesting facts about local places and travel in general. Even as a fellow Brit, I learn something new about England almost every day from her snaps!
Well let’s make that NINE travel bloggers – I had to end this post with a shameless plug didn’t I?!? But if you fancy following along with me and my day-to-day life here in England at the moment then I will try my best not to bore you with my weird anecdotes and general awkwardness in front of the camera! I have some exciting adventures lined up, so it’s about to get REALLY interesting…
