Travelling and the desire to see more of the world, has been ingrained in me since a very young age. Having grandparents who were big travellers and fortunate enough to live in places like Ghana, Tanzania and Bahrain, meant weekends staying with them were quite often filled with stories about their times abroad.
But it wasn’t until my early twenties that I was properly bitten by the travel bug after a six week backpacking trip around Southeast Asia in 2005.
It is still to date, one of my favourite travel experiences so far, as it opened up my eyes to a whole new world.
Since then, my love for travel has continued on and I’ve been fortunate enough to have many more adventures in Asia, Oceania, Europe, North America and Africa, where I lived in Tanzania for five incredible months, volunteering with various NGOs including a local school and orphanage.
About the blog
What humbly started out as an online journal to share My RTW Travel Tales with family and friends back home, Where is Nikki? has grown into a travel resource with the hope that it might inspire and help others to experience some of the things I have been fortunate enough to do over the last 12 years.
I talk A LOT about my time in Tanzania, but the blog covers quite a diverse range of topics from volunteering and solo backpacking adventures on a budget to luxury city breaks and everything else in between.
Where is Nikki now?
After returning from a ten month around-the-world adventure, I’m now back on my home turf plotting some new adventures that I can fit in around the day job – so watch this space; I promise it won’t be boring!
I hope you enjoy my stories, travel tips and photos as much as I enjoy sharing them. And do feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or just want to say hi. I’m always happy to hear from you!
